Collections Trust: A brief introduction to acquisition and accessioning

This session will offer a basic overview of the Spectrum Acquisition and accessioning procedure.

It will cover:

• How the procedure relates to Accreditation and policy.

• The procedure’s definition and scope, explaining key concepts and terms.

• The Spectrum minimum requirements, with brief examples of how to meet them.

• Where to find the Spectrum suggested procedure and briefly how it can be used (note: this session will not cover the content of the suggested procedure).

• Signposting to further information.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

• Understand how Acquisition and accessioning relates to Accreditation and policy.

• Understand how to meet the Spectrum standard for Acquisition and accessioning via the minimum requirements.

• Know where to find more information and guidance.

This session is presentation style with a brief Q&A section at the end.

It is for museums and museum professionals in England and is suitable for beginners or those in need of a refresher.

Please note, we only allow two individuals from each organisation to attend to ensure access for as many museums as possible.
