MDM are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new support programme - Sense of Place.
This new strand of our development programmes will support museums to identify place-based approaches to their community engagement work. The programme will be launched at Aurora Wellbeing in Worksop, a truly inspiring organisation putting sense of place at the heart of everything they do.
Aurora Wellbeing has understood the value of heritage, art and culture as a means to societal improvement and has positioned heritage as an important driver for improved wellbeing within the charity’s delivery services. This workshop will introduce the project, focusing on how a sense of place and local identity contributes to individual and community wellbeing.
Delegates will learn how our place-based approach can influence how people feel about the place they call home.
Please note: Doors open at 9.30am for a 10am start.
The morning session will consist of presentations from the Heritage Team and volunteer case studies, sharing the impact of a place-based approach and showcasing what we have learned about the role heritage can play in wellbeing.
12.30pm Lunch
After lunch, delegates will have the chance to join a tour of the Heritage Hub and surroundings.
2.30pm Finish
Please Note: Booking for this event closes on Thursday 3 October 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
Maximum two delegates per organisation. Priority will be given to delegates from non-NPO and non-National museums in the Midlands which are Accredited or officially Working Towards Accreditation.
