Get Support to Develop Your Project Idea

We have engaged project development consultant Jenni Waugh to offer free 1:1 support sessions for organisations considering an application to the Museum Learning and Engagement (MLE) Grant Programme. To arrange a session with Jenni, please contact grants@mdmidlands.org.uk. We'll ask you to provide a brief outline of your project idea and then put you in touch with Jenni to arrange a mutually convenient time. Please make sure you have read the MLE grant guidance before attending a session.

Please note that we require a minimum of five working days' notice to arrange a 1:1 support session. As the application deadline is 24 September 2026, we encourage you to contact us as early as possible if you would like to access this support.

These sessions are designed to help you develop and refine your project idea before you apply. To make the most of the support available, before the 1:1 session you should:

  • Read the MLE grant guidance before attending.

  • Have at least the beginnings of a project idea you'd like to discuss.

  • Be prepared to talk about the need your project will address and the outcomes you hope to achieve.

Jenni can:

  • Act as a sounding board for your ideas and help you to clarify and refine your project plan via online meeting or phone call.

  • Offer guidance on what elements of your application need to go where on the form.

  • Answer general queries about the MLE grant programme

  • Suggest data tools to help you to provide evidence about the cultural engagement or multiple deprivation levels in the area you plan to work.

  • Offer up to two meetings (deadline permitting).

 Jenni cannot:

  • Provide detailed advice about the National Curriculum.

  • Provide legal, accounting, HR or other regulated professional advice.

  • Read and comment on application drafts.

  • Make any assurances on the outcome of an application

  • Complete any part of the application on your behalf

Support provided through these sessions does not influence assessment or moderation decisions.
